Your home is your sanctuary. Abigail Larkin is experienced in all aspects of design, documentation, approvals process and then during construction to guide you through the journey from sketch plan to built form.

Our aim is to provide joy and a home that suits your needs, the landscape it sits in and ensure a smooth ride whilst navigating Council and Builders.

Abigail works collaboratively with you to achieve a considered result and draws on her site experience to ensure the build process runs smoothly.

Abigail has over 25 years in the industry working in a variety of areas from heritage to contemporary design. We recognise that each home (and client) is unique. Abigail’s own style is eclectic and each project varies greatly – the practice does not follow fads and instead design to what suits your home and your tastes with timeless results in mind.

We initially consult for an hour or two pro bono to give you an overview of what is involved so feel free to get in touch. We ensure that your first steps into the world of architecture and renovating are worthwhile, value for money, within your budget and ultimately provide a design that suits your needs both now and into the future.

Whilst running her practice, Abigail has also taught building students at TAFE subjects including Environmental Building Principles, Passive Solar Design, Contract Administration, Dispute Resolution and Materials, so has an enriched level of experience both from a design point of view and practical construction knowledge. Prior to starting her practice 17 years ago she worked as a senior project architect for one of Sydney’s leading heritage firms.

She has experience on many sized projects from interiors, minor alterations and kitchen/bathroom design right through to large renovations and knock down re-build. Abigail is a Registered NSW Architect (No. 6909) so holds current Professional Indemnity Insurance and regularly keeps her Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points up to date with such organisations as SPUN (Upper North Practice Network).

If you would love to talk about your upcoming project to see if we can work together, then please get in touch.

Abigail has been working with us for a number of years and has been supporting us through a tricky heritage renovation. We were thrilled with the support and results. She always went above and beyond!
    Highly recommended.

We recently collaborated with Abigail on our renovation project, including what felt like significant house changes and plans for a new deck (exciting!). Abigail provided us with peace of mind and excellent service throughout our project (which is just about to start – woo hoo!). With her helpful attitude and effective communication, she proved to be a reliable professional to work with and a great source of support (I freaked out at times!).

Her friendly and approachable demeanour from the beginning fostered a comfortable working relationship. She was open to discussions and actively listened to my ideas and preferences. Her ability to maintain good communication in person and over the phone ensured that any questions or concerns I had were promptly addressed. We were most grateful for her taking all the council planning and documentation aspects off our hands.

One notable aspect of their work was her capacity to connect with various individuals and resources (Engineers of all sorts, council, builders, kitchen suppliers – you name it!). She had a network of contacts that proved beneficial when seeking advice or sourcing materials. Her ability to leverage these connections facilitated the project’s progress and helped overcome challenges along the way.

Abigail’s drawings demonstrated a high level of skill and attention to detail (despite my several revisions). Her ability to translate ideas into visual representations was commendable. She was always receptive to feedback and willing to make tweaks and adjustments as needed, ensuring the designs aligned with my vision.

Throughout our collaboration, Abigail patiently understood my requirements and addressed any revisions or concerns. She was supportive during decision-making processes and provided explanations clearly and understandably.

We look forward to getting the project underway and inviting Abigail into the mess along the way and, hopefully, the home of our dreams.

We used Abigail for our renovation where we extended our entertaining areas and updated our Kitchen- we had a difficult site and are situated in a flame zone – she came up with creative solutions, navigated us through complicated Council requirements and was at all times professional, respectful of budget and a complete delight to work with. I would have no hesitation in recommending her.

Earlier this year,we asked Abigail to design a kitchen renovation that would maximise usability and space and have the WOW factor. As someone who cooks all day every day,I really needed a kitchen that was super practical and stylish.I found many designs and solutions were clearly designed by people that did not use a kitchen!.Abigail’s design was spot-on and will be a vast improvement in both aesthetic and usability. It’s clear her practicality informs all her work. She is capable of bold and striking design solutions which is what we were after. She was also great at testing our options – ie listening to us and finding what worked for us but providing us with the expertise to evaluate the choices
I previously worked with Abigail on my first reno of a beautiful Federation semi in Glebe. Her heritage knowledge and eye for colour transformed a dingy unworkable house into a light and airy period delight with a sleek modern bathroom and kitchen..When we came to sell,Abigail drew up plans for a 2nd storey addition which was heritage and council complaint. This along with the first class reno which had retained and enhanced the period features of the house helped us achieve a fantastic price at the time.

We engaged Abigail originally as our Architect and later as a contract administrator to design and oversee our extension renovations. She was recommended by a neighbour, and it is always good to see the work first hand. Abigail is a delight to work with – she came up with perfect solutions to the way we wanted our house to function as a family of four, including nifty ways of utilizing space. She was easy to reach and contactable, and always took care of elements that needed tweaking quickly. We are delighted with the result of our renovations and so glad we chose such a great combination of professionals from start to finish. I highly recommend Abigail.

We used Abigail for our studio and outdoor entertaining project. She is very creative, knowledgeable and professional! What made her different was that we felt she took a genuine interest in our project. She always made herself available to fit in with our busy work schedule. We were very impressed with her tireless navigation through minefield of Council specifications to transform our requirements into an inspired and exceptional design. Her ideas surpassed our expectations. We wouldn’t hesitate to use Abigail’s services again and we would highly recommend her!
